Home Whitewater Rafting For those who want to experience Western New York's hidden gem, white water rafting on the mighty Cattaraugus, through Zoar Valley, is the perfect springtime activity. You'll view rugged cliffs hundreds of feet high, waterfalls (both free falling and hidden by old growth stands of oak, hemlock and tulip), nesting bald eagles and you'll experience the finest white water west of the Adirondacks. The Spring Rafting Season in Zoar Valley opens in March with the spring runoff and lasts until late May or early June as the water level becomes too low. The best white water action can normally be had through April, depending of course on the amount of rainfall. May, as water level begins to recede, can generally be counted on to provide a more scenic, warmer and serene trip. May showers, however, can bring about a sudden rise in water levels. Reservations are required. To book your whitewater adventure, or for more information contact: Zoar Valley Canoe & Rafting 716-410-2824 or e-mail. Check them out on Facebook also! Pricing, different types of trips, mileage, gear rental information, and general info can be found on their website. Duckies, (yes, that's correct, Duckies) are small inflatable rafts built for 1 or 2 people and are very popular because of their maneuverability. Duckies are great at extending the season at times when the water levels are a bit lower, giving you the chance to check out the quiet pools and shorelines.
